Rebedding is where we start on a lot of local roofs. We lift each loose cap, clean away the old crumbling mortar, lay a fresh bed and set the cap back in line. A flexible pointing compound then goes over the top, holding its grip as the roof moves with the seasons instead of cracking like old cement.

We do this standing on the tiles, because a peek over the gutter from a ladder tells you very little. We test each ridge for movement, look over the tiles for cracks and porosity, inspect valleys and flashings, and note the condition of the gutters. Photos are taken throughout.
Afterwards you get the story in ordinary words, then a written quote broken into items. The visit is free and nobody leans on you to sign.
Some roofs have more going on than the ridges. If tiles across the whole roof have lost their surface, the valleys are rusting and the pointing has failed in several places, fixing items one at a time adds up and still leaves you with an old, tired roof.
A full restoration handles everything in a single job. After a thorough wash with high-pressure water, we swap out damaged tiles, give every ridge and hip new bedding and pointing, and renew valleys and flashings where required. The tiles are then sealed, primed and given a fresh coating in a colour of your choosing.
