Kings Park is right next door to us in Brimbank, and we have looked at a lot of roofs in streets off Gillespie Road and Kings Road over the years. Most homes here went up in the 1970s, which means plenty of roofs are now around fifty years old. At that age, the original ridge bedding is crumbling, concrete tiles have lost their colour, and leaks start to show after a big storm.
Being this close has real benefits for you. We can usually get out for an inspection quickly, and if something urgent happens, like storm damage or a sudden leak, we are not driving across Melbourne to reach you. Our owner looks at every roof personally, photographs the problems and lets you know whether a few fixes will carry it or whether the time has come to restore it.

The typical Kings Park home is a 1970s brick veneer with a concrete tile roof, built when the estates around Gillespie Road were being developed. These roofs were solidly made, but nothing lasts forever. After five decades, the mortar holding the caps has gone chalky and the caps wobble. The pointing on top cracks and lets water seep in. The tiles themselves lose their surface coating, absorb water and grow lichen.
The local weather speeds things along. Kings Park sits on the open plains of Melbourne’s west, where strong northerly and westerly winds blow with little to stop them. Hot summers and cold winters make tiles and mortar expand and contract, which opens up cracks over time. Valleys installed back in the 1970s are often rusting by now too. The usual first sign is a damp patch on the ceiling, often in a bedroom or hallway under a valley or ridge.
Not every 1970s roof in Kings Park needs the full treatment. Often a handful of targeted repairs keeps it sound for years. These are the jobs we do most in the streets around Gillespie Road and Kings Road:
Each repair is photographed, so you see the problem and the result.
We drive over from Cairnlea, climb up and look the roof over thoroughly: the concrete tiles, the bedding and pointing on each ridge, the valleys, flashings and gutters. Anything worth discussing gets photographed. Afterwards, over the fence or at the kitchen bench, we show the pictures and explain what they mean for a roof of this vintage, then send a written quote. No fee, no hard sell. Because we are local, we are also happy to come back for another look in a year or two if your roof does not need work just yet.
If the bedding is failing on most ridges, the tiles are faded and porous over the whole roof and water is marking two or more ceilings, another round of repairs is poor value. Restoring the whole roof is our advice at that stage.
The work covers the entire roof in a single job. A pressure clean takes off lichen, dust and what is left of the original finish. Broken tiles are swapped for the closest match we can find, reclaimed where necessary, the ridges are stripped and re-laid then repointed, and tired valley irons and flashings are renewed. A sealer, a primer and colour coats finish the job, which can transform the look of a 1970s brick veneer from the street. It costs a fraction of re-roofing and gives the existing roof many more years. Find out more about roof restoration in Kings Park on our dedicated page.
We are a local, owner-led business working just down the road. Our owner, a roofer for upwards of 25 years, is on site at every Kings Park job, so the person you meet at the inspection is the one overseeing the work.
The business is licensed and insured, and our workmanship is checked against quality standards. Quotes are written and stick to what your roof needs. We protect your garden, keep paths and the driveway clear and leave the place tidy. Neighbours talk, and we would like them to say good things.
