Hot northerlies and gusty westerlies across the open plains north of Melton push Kurunjang roofs hard. We repair wind-lifted tiles and cracked pointing, and restore roofs that have worn out, always with a straight recommendation first.

Spend one spring in Kurunjang and you get to know the wind. It comes across the open land north of the Melton township with little to slow it down, and it tests every ridge cap and tile on the way through. Add baking summer sun and the odd hailstorm, and roofs here take a real beating, whether they are on the older brick homes near the Recreation Reserve or newer builds off Minns Road.
The good news is that most of that damage can be fixed. Kurunjang is an easy run out west from our yard in Cairnlea, so it is no trouble to climb onto your roof and work out exactly what has happened. Then we explain, with photos, whether you need a few targeted repairs or whether the roof is worn enough that a full restoration makes more sense.

Kurunjang sits on flat, open country where there is little shelter for houses. Strong westerlies and hot northerlies hit roofs side-on, lifting tile edges and putting pressure on ridge caps. Over time, the bedding mortar under those caps cracks and comes loose, and once the pointing has gone, wind-driven rain gets straight in.
Heat does its share of damage too. Summer temperatures out here regularly climb higher than in inner Melbourne, and roof tiles absorb a lot of that heat, then cool sharply at night. That daily cycle wears down older mortar and sealants. Many Kurunjang homes also have concrete tiles that have lost their factory coating, leaving them porous. Wind-blown dust settles into valleys and gutters, slowing drainage and holding moisture against metal. These are all normal problems for a western suburbs roof, and catching them early keeps repair costs down.
A repair that blows loose in the next westerly is no repair at all. Out here we take a little extra care with fixings and joints, and these are the jobs we do most:
Wind damage usually starts at the edges, so that is where we look hardest: ridge lines, hips, barge ends and the rows of tiles along the gutter. From there we check the rest of the field of tiles, the valleys, flashings and gutters, and pop into the ceiling cavity if water has come through. Each problem goes on camera.
We then go over the photos with you, skip the jargon and email a written price for the needed work. No fee, and no obligation.
When almost every ridge has open pointing, the tiles have bleached and started soaking up water, and a new drip appears every time it rains, more patching is just money down the drain. Restoring the roof brings the whole thing back up to scratch.
Plains dust, lichen and crumbly surface material come off first under the pressure washer. Then we change damaged tiles, relay and repoint ridge and hip caps along their full length, and fix whatever the valleys and flashings need. Three coats round it off: sealer, primer and a UV-tough topcoat in the colour you want, so the tiles are shielded from the sun again. All up, it is a far smaller bill than new tiles and adds many years of service. The step-by-step process is set out on our roof restoration in Kurunjang page.
We are a western suburbs business ourselves, so hot, windy roofs are bread and butter. Our owner, a roofer for over 25 years, is personally on every job, from the first climb up for the inspection to the last sweep of the driveway.
Our licence and insurance cover your property, and the workmanship is quality-assured. Garden beds, pavers and the driveway are protected while we work, and every broken tile and crumb of mortar is bagged and removed. Quotes are written in plain terms, with nothing included that your roof does not need.
