Keilor East is a quick hop from our yard in Cairnlea, which makes getting your roof looked at painless. We fix cracked tiles, worn ridges and faded paintwork on the suburb's established brick homes, and put every recommendation in a clear written quote.

When your roof springs a leak, it helps to have a roofer who is not coming from the other side of Melbourne. Keilor East is barely ten minutes’ drive from where we keep the ute, so a look at your roof rarely means a long wait, and we know the local housing well.
The suburb is full of established brick homes, many built in the post-war boom and the decades after, sitting on good-sized blocks above the Maribyrnong valley. A lot of those roofs are still on their original tiles. When we inspect yours, the owner goes over the whole thing, takes photos and gives you a straight answer: here is what is wrong, here is what it will take to fix, and here is whether a repair or a full restoration makes more sense for a roof of this age.

Most of Keilor East was developed from the 1950s through to the 1970s, with brick homes spreading from Milleara Road towards the Maribyrnong River escarpment and the parklands along Steele Creek. They were well built, but their roofs have now weathered half a century of scorching Januaries and wet Julys.
At that age, a few problems are almost guaranteed. Ridge mortar has dried and cracked, letting caps work loose. Concrete tiles have shed their factory finish and turned thirsty; terracotta has become brittle. Galvanised valleys have started to rust. Homes on higher ground near the escarpment catch the westerly and northerly winds more than most, which speeds up wear on the ridges and edges. And because many of these roofs have never been touched, small faults have had decades to grow. The good news is that most are still very fixable, especially when caught before water damages the ceilings.
You get a photo of each fault before we touch it and another once it is fixed, so there is never any doubt about what you paid for. Repairs on these older roofs are done gently, too, because brittle tiles crack easily under a heavy boot.
Because we are so close, we can often fit an inspection in around your week rather than making you wait. Up top, we test each ridge cap for movement, tap-check suspect tiles for brittleness, peer into the valleys for rust and leaf build-up, and look at every flashing and gutter run. Original roofs hide their problems well, so we take our time. Each fault gets its own photo.
Then it is a chat at your front door, the photos on screen, and a written price listing only the items you want done. Free, and no strings.
A fifty-year-old roof with drips in three rooms, ridges loose from one gable to the other and tiles worn dull on every slope is not a repair job any more. Spending on fixes one at a time just delays the inevitable and adds up quickly.
Restoring it changes the picture. We blast off half a century of grime, change out the cracked and brittle tiles, reset each ridge cap on a new mortar bed finished in flexible pointing, and sort out rusty valleys and tired flashings. A sealer, primer and colour coat go on last, which on a post-war brick home can lift the whole look of the street frontage. The outlay is a fraction of re-roofing. There is a dedicated page on roof restoration in Keilor East if you want the full story.
