From cracked concrete tiles to ridge caps the wind has worked loose, we repair Tally Ho roofs properly and restore the ones that are beyond patching. Every job is quality assured, and the owner of the business is there on the roof with the crew.

Tally Ho is a quiet residential pocket of Melbourne’s east, centred on the Springvale Road and Burwood Highway corner. Plenty of homes here are solid brick veneers from the 1960s and 1970s, topped with concrete or terracotta tiles that have been weathering for half a century. They were made to last, but even a well-built roof needs a hand eventually.
We make the trip across to Tally Ho to inspect, repair and restore those roofs. The process is simple: climb up, work out what is really happening, show you photos and put a price on paper. If a few tiles and fresh pointing will keep your home dry, that is our recommendation. If the roof as a whole is past its best, we say so, and we show you what led us to that view.

Mostly, it is time. A roof from the 1960s or 1970s has sat through fifty years of Melbourne weather, and the parts that wear first are the ones holding everything together. Ridge bedding, a simple sand and cement mix, shrinks and cracks through endless hot and cold cycles. The pointing on top loses its grip, and before long the caps are rocking.
Tiles change too. Concrete shed their surface and turn porous, so they drink in rain and sprout lichen. Terracotta stays harder but cracks under a careless boot, a hailstorm or a falling branch. Meanwhile, the mature gardens and street trees that make the area so pleasant keep dropping leaves into gutters and valleys. Nearly every leak we chase in Tally Ho leads back to one of these, and almost all of them begin small. Catching them early keeps the bill modest and spares the plaster underneath.
We go after the cause rather than the symptom, with products and methods that suit the roof you actually have.
First, we walk the roof and look at every element, from the tiles and ridge lines down to valleys, flashings, gutters and whatever coating is left. Second, we photograph what we find, the good bits as well as the bad. Third, we sit at your kitchen table, talk it through without the trade-speak and answer whatever questions you have. Finally, a written quote arrives listing each item separately, so you can choose what to tackle and when. There is no fee for any of this, and no catch.
We are always happy to do a small repair when that is all a roof needs. But once the tiles are worn over the whole surface, several ridges are loose and leaks are appearing in different rooms, patching turns into an expensive way of standing still.
A restoration fixes the lot in one hit. Pressure cleaning comes first, then broken tiles are changed, every ridge and hip is re-set and repointed, and any valley or flashing that is failing gets repaired or renewed. To finish, the tiles are sealed and primed before colour coats go on in the shade you have chosen. You pay a fraction of what replacement would cost, and a tired 1970s roof ends up looking sharp again. Our roof restoration services are explained in full elsewhere on the site, if you like detail.
Quality assurance is not a slogan here. It means the owner is physically present on each job, materials are chosen to suit your roof and each stage is checked before the next one starts. You also get photos, so you can judge the work yourself.
