We would rather lose a big job than sell you one you do not need. On every Ringwood roof we inspect, photograph and explain, then recommend a repair, a restoration or sometimes nothing at all.
No Fees. No Obligation. Open 7 Days a Week.
Here is something you will not hear from every roofer: plenty of Ringwood roofs do not need a full restoration. A cracked ridge, a slipped tile or a rusted valley can often be fixed for a small part of what a restoration costs, and the rest of the roof may have years left in it. Equally, some roofs carry so many old patches that one more would be wasted money.
Our job is to tell you which situation you are in. We come out to Ringwood from Cairnlea and give the roof a proper once-over from on top, not from the lawn. You get photos of what we saw and a recommendation in plain English. If you want a second opinion afterwards, that is fine by us. We are confident the advice will stand up.

A lot of Ringwood’s housing went up between the 1950s and the 1980s, so many roofs are now 40 to 70 years old. Mid-century weatherboards and brick veneers under concrete or terracotta tiles fill most of our Ringwood diary, along with newer townhouses and units that have their own issues, like tight valleys and box gutters between dwellings.
The eastern suburbs get more rain than the west, and Ringwood’s big established gums, particularly near reserves like the Mullum Mullum Creek corridor, drop a steady supply of leaves into gutters. Combine damp shaded roof faces with ageing tiles, and moss and lichen take hold. Older ridge bedding dries out and cracks in summer heat, then lets water in during winter. We also see plenty of damage from storms, where branches or strong winds crack tiles and shift ridge caps.
Before we fix anything, we explain what is wrong and why it matters. Common repairs include:
A Ringwood inspection takes us somewhere between half an hour and an hour, depending on the size of the house. We tap and look along each tile course, run an eye over every ridge and hip, check valleys for rust and leaf build-up, test flashings for lifted edges and peer into the gutters. If there is a leak, we also climb into the ceiling space to see where it is tracking.
Once we are down, the photos come out and we tell you, in ordinary language, what matters and what does not. A written price follows. It costs you nothing, and we will not chase you with sales calls.
Honest advice cuts both ways. If your roof has widespread cracked pointing, porous and mossy tiles and leaks in several spots, we will tell you that more repairs are not good value, and that a restoration is the better long-term choice.
That means a top-to-bottom wash at high pressure, new tiles in place of cracked ones, ridge and hip caps reset and repointed, valleys and flashings sorted, and three coats to finish: sealer, primer, then colour. What you are left with keeps rain out and looks sharp again, and the bill sits well below the price of replacing tiles and battens. If you want to know more about the process, see our roof restoration services.
Honest advice only counts if the person giving it is also the person doing the work. At Ultra Finish, that is our owner. Our owner inspects each Ringwood roof personally and is up there again while the repairs or restoration happen, drawing on more than 25 years of climbing ladders for a living.
Our licence and insurance protect you throughout, and every job is held to a quality-assured standard. We lay covers over plants and pavers, keep the driveway clear for your car where we can, and haul away every broken tile and bag of old mortar. The written quote lists each task in plain terms so you know what you are paying for.
