Knoxfield is full of solid 1970s and 80s homes whose concrete tile roofs are now showing their age. We trace leaks, swap broken tiles, repoint ridges and recoat faded roofs, and nothing is called finished until it passes our own quality check.

Here is a problem many Knoxfield homeowners run into: a roofer comes, does something up top, sends a bill, and you have no real way of knowing what was fixed or how well. We think that is backwards. You should be able to see the work, understand it and trust it.
That is why we photograph everything. Our owner travels over from Cairnlea, inspects the roof in person and records each fault before any work begins, then photographs the finished repair. You will see the cracked tile and its replacement, the crumbling ridge and its fresh pointing. Before that, though, we give you an honest call on scope. Where a few targeted fixes will keep the roof sound, we will say so and stop there. Where it is tired from gutter to ridge, you will hear why restoring it gives better value.

Much of Knoxfield was built in the 1970s and 1980s, when the outer east was filling up with brick veneer family homes. Most of them were roofed in concrete tiles, a tough material that nonetheless needs care once its original surface wears away. Many of those roofs have now passed the forty-year mark without ever being restored.
By this age, the tiles have lost much of their factory finish, so they absorb water and grow lichen. Ridge pointing, if it was ever upgraded from mortar, is cracked and brittle, and rain soaking into the bedding loosens the caps. Valley irons on original roofs are often rusting, and gutters fill with leaves from the established street trees. Sitting at the foot of the Dandenongs, Knoxfield also gets its share of storm cells rolling off the ranges, sometimes bringing hail that cracks already-weathered tiles. Each of these issues is fixable; the trick is catching them before water reaches the plaster.
Each of these is carried out to a quality-assured standard, and you get before-and-after photos as proof:
We check the entire roof from on top, including every ridge line, the condition of the tile surface, valleys, flashings, gutters and downpipes. Where tiles are cracked, we note the cause, whether it is hail, foot traffic or age, since that shapes the fix. Photos are taken throughout.
You then receive a clear summary with the photos and an itemised written quote. There is no fee, and the decision is entirely yours.
Some original Knoxfield roofs are worn evenly all over: porous tiles, widespread lichen, pointing failing on most ridges. Repairs on a roof like that are like fixing one bald tyre when all four are gone. A restoration is the more sensible fix.
The job runs in stages. A thorough pressure clean takes off decades of grime and growth. Next, cracked tiles come out, ridge lines are relaid and pointed, and any tired valley iron or flashing gets fixed. Then the roof gets its protective layers, sealer, primer and a colour of your choosing, so the tiles shed water again. The result looks new from the street and costs a fraction of replacing the roof. Our roof restoration services page has the finer detail.
Quality-assured is not a slogan for us. It is the reason the owner, who has been roofing for over twenty-five years, attends every Knoxfield job and checks every repair before signing off. There is no handing over to an unknown crew.
