Heatherdale's established homes have roofs that were laid decades ago and are now asking for some care. Our licensed, insured crew swaps worn tiles, repoints tired ridges and repaints faded roofs, and we only quote for work your roof genuinely needs.

Heatherdale is a settled, tree-lined pocket on the Mitcham and Ringwood border, built around the station on the Belgrave line. Most houses here went up in the postwar decades, solid brick or weatherboard with tiled roofs, and many families have lived in them for a long time. Those roofs have given excellent service, but forty, fifty or sixty years is a long stretch for ridge mortar and tile coatings.
That is where we come in. Ultra Finish Roofing travels to Heatherdale from Cairnlea, and our owner climbs onto every roof personally. You are told what is actually wrong, shown the photos, and given a recommendation for the least work that will reliably fix it. When a roof is beyond that, we explain the restoration option and why it would pay off.

Heatherdale’s roofs have lived through a lot of Melbourne seasons. Every hot day expands the tiles and mortar, every cold night shrinks them, and after thousands of cycles the old cement bedding beneath each ridge cap loosens its hold. Once the caps can rock, rain blown sideways in a storm gets underneath.
The suburb’s mature gardens play their part as well. Established eucalypts, oaks and fruit trees shade roofs and fill gutters, and in the shadier corners moss gets started. Concrete tiles lose their factory coating over time and begin soaking up water, which makes them heavier and encourages more growth. Older terracotta is more resistant to moss but tends to become brittle, so it cracks easily if someone walks on it carelessly.
Individually, each of these issues is small. Together, they are why so many Heatherdale homeowners eventually find a stain on the ceiling.
Each repair is photographed, so you can compare the before and after for yourself.
We do not quote from the footpath. We climb onto the roof and check the tiles, each ridge and hip, the valleys, flashings, gutters and downpipes. Where there is access, we also look inside the roof space, because damp timber or stained insulation shows how long a leak has been running.
Once we are down, you get to see every photo and hear what it means. A written quote follows, listing essential repairs apart from anything optional, and you are free to take as long as you like to decide.
If the inspection shows that most of the ridges have failed, the tiles have gone porous right across the roof and there are several leak points, repairs on their own will not give you lasting results. A full restoration usually works out to be far better value.
It begins with a pressure wash that strips decades of grime off the tiles. Cracked tiles are replaced, each ridge cap is relaid on new mortar under flexible pointing, and worn valleys or flashings are swapped out. The roof then receives a sealer, primer and finish coats in a colour that suits the house. It is a real transformation, without the expense of tearing off and replacing the roof.
