Healesville roofs live with Yarra Valley seasons: frosty mornings, long wet spells, hot summer afternoons and leaves from the surrounding forest. We travel out to fix cracked tiles, repoint ridges and repaint roofs that have had enough, explaining every option in plain English.
No Fees. No Obligation. Open 7 Days a Week.
Healesville is a town that lives close to the bush. Head up the Maroondah Highway towards the Black Spur, or out towards the Sanctuary and Badger Creek, and the forest is never far from the gutter line. Mountain ash, gums and oaks on older properties drop leaves for much of the year, and the town gets markedly more rain and colder winter nights than suburban Melbourne. Roofs here simply work harder.
We make the trip out to Healesville for repairs and restorations alike. The process always begins on the roof itself, with a camera in hand. Once we have seen every ridge, valley and run of tiles, you get an honest call from us: a few well-chosen repairs, or a restoration because the roof is tired from end to end. We have no interest in selling you the bigger job if the smaller one will do.

Winter is the hardest stretch. Frost forms on tiles overnight, melts by mid-morning and refreezes the next night. Water that has seeped into tiny cracks in the ridge mortar expands as it freezes, prising those cracks wider every week. By spring, pointing that looked fine in autumn can be breaking away.
Spring and autumn bring the long wet spells. Moss, lichen and algae thrive on roofs that never fully dry, especially in the shadow of hills and tall trees around Healesville. Their roots hold water against concrete tiles, which slowly become porous and heavier.
Summer brings the opposite: intense heat, fire-season winds and the occasional violent thunderstorm. Leaves and bark build up in valleys during dry weather, then the first big downpour has nowhere to go. That is the moment many owners discover a stain spreading across the lounge ceiling.
Whether your place is a cottage near the main street or a house on acreage out of town, the repair work tends to cover the same ground.
We photograph each fault and fix, which helps if you are dealing with insurance after a storm.
We walk the roof, not the yard. Moss-heavy planes, every ridge, valleys, flue and chimney flashings, gutters and the edges beneath overhanging trees all get looked at closely, and the camera records what we find. Afterwards we run through the photos with you over a cuppa and explain, without jargon, which jobs should beat the winter and which can hang on. You then receive a quote in writing. The trip out is on us, and you are not tied to anything.
Some roofs out here reach the point where moss has crept over most of the tiles, ridges have opened up on every side and new leaks keep appearing. Repairs at that stage are a holding pattern. A restoration is the real fix.
On a valley roof the clean is half the battle: we pressure wash moss and lichen off every tile and flush the valleys and gutters. Broken tiles are swapped, every ridge rebedded and repointed, and valleys and flashings renewed where needed. With the roof clean and sound, the tiles receive a sealer, primer and colour coats that help them shed water instead of soaking it up. It is a fraction of what a replacement roof would cost, and you keep the tiles you already have.
More on the process is on our roof restoration services page.
To be clear, we are not a Valley business. We drive out to Healesville from Cairnlea, bringing 25-plus years of roofing and an owner who is personally up on every roof we take on. The voice on the phone is the same man on your roof.
The basics are covered too. We are licensed and carry insurance, the work is quality-assured, the inspection is free and photographed, and your quote is written and trimmed to what the roof truly needs. Garden beds, water tanks and paths are protected, and we take our mess away with us.
